This year’s St Patrick’s Day Celebrations Concert at the Burnavon, Cookstown on Wednesday 16th March at 8pm promises to be a great night out with a fantastic programme introduced by guest compere, Malachi Cush.
We are delighted to welcome Malachi once again to the Burnavon stage. Equally well known now as an accomplished radio and TV presenter as he is a musician and performer. Over the past ten years Malachi´s achievements both musical and otherwise, have rolled out one by one. He has worked regularly with both BBC and UTV, recently becoming one of the forces behind Irish TV which is about to embark on a live Saturday night entertainment show. We haven’t forgotten Malachi’s singing talent either though, so hopefully we will hear a song or two on the night as well!
Opening the show we are equally pleased to welcome Cóiriú back to our St Patrick’s Concert. The seven member line up is a regular and popular act on the Burnavon stage. Among the group members there is so much musical talent that there is scarcely an instrument that cannot be played – and they can dance too, so we can be sure that will get the evening off to a lively start!
Cóiriú will be followed by a special performance from members of Loup Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann. Over 20 members of the group including their faithful tutors are currently practising hard to bring us a programme of music, song and dance. We will hear from some of musicians who took 2nd place in the Under 12 Ceili band section at the Ulster Fleadh last July, then going on to take part in the All Ireland final. We will also enjoy a performance from Rosie McElroy who came 2nd in the Under 12 Fiddle slow airs, and from Brigeen who was 1st in the Whistle at the All Ireland 2016 in Sligo. Add a variety of County and Ulster champions and you have a host of spectacular musical talent all in the one place!
Then, after the interval, All Folk’d Up will make their debut appearance at the Burnavon, taking charge for the remainder of the evening. Hailed as the most exciting young Irish band to appear in a generation, All Folk’d Up have their sound rooted deep in Irish Folk and Celtic Rock. The band consists of banjo, guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums and 4 vocalists all blending together seamlessly to create a unique sound. The band will take you on a fabulous journey into the depths of traditional Irish Music and American Folk as well as Rock & Modern Classics. All Folk’d Up have already made a name for themselves, touring the length and breadth of Ireland and are just about to embark on their first ever UK Theatre Tour, in Spring 2016. So we are just delighted to have them with us for our St Patrick’s Celebrations Concert!
So there it is – a really great line up introduced by our own Malachi Cush: what better way to celebrate St Patrick’s Day can there be!
Tickets for the St. Patrick’s Day Celebration Concert are priced at £10 each, and can be booked from the Burnavon Box Office on 028 8676 9949 or online at www.burnavon.com
