The Scottish Ceilidh is back at the Burnavon for its 8th year on Friday 30th January 2015 starting at 8pm. The ceilidh has become a popular annual event which is organised to celebrate Burns night and it is a rare opportunity to attend a truly participative event in your local Arts and Cultural Centre.
Husband and wife team Ken and Linda McLean will take the lead, demonstrating each Scottish Country or Ceilidh dance routines. Once you have seen the experts you will then be invited to join in and try it for yourselves.
We are delighted to welcome back Ulster Scots Folk Group, Risin’Stour for live music throughout the evening . Made up of Iain Carlisle (Accordion and Keyboards), Andrew Carlisle (Percussion) & David McComb (Accordion) the band will provide lively music that will soon have you in the mood to get on to your feet. The ceilidh is the perfect way to shake off the January blues – the dances are simple, fun and a great way to get some exercise and have a laugh with others. Come by yourself, with a partner or a few friends – it really doesn’t matter – a great evening in good company is guaranteed for all.
Dancing at the Scottish Ceilidh will start at 8pm and run in two halves with tea or coffee and shortbread, served at the interval included in the ticket price of £7.
The Scottish Ceilidh is organised as part of the Arts and Cultural Development programme of Cookstown District Council.
