Cookstown Visitor Information Centre are pleased to offer a variety of heritage tours this summer, showcasing the wonderful sights the Cookstown District has to offer.
Saturday 21st June – Beaghmore Stone Circles.
To celebrate Summer Solstice you are invited to come along and enjoy a re–enactment of life in the Bronze Age. This gathering will let you interact with the natives and gain an insight into what it was like to live in the Bronze Age, this will be followed by storytelling and a light supper.
Saturday 26th July – Lissan House
Come along and enjoy a living history tour of this enchanting 17th century country residence, set within a 300 acre demesne. Modern interactive exhibits and original family furnishings combine to take you on a unique journey through the history of the estate and the family characters that have shaped it. The tour will be followed by a light supper
Saturday 19th July – Loughshore Heritage
Come and discover the ancient site of Ardboe Cross and St Colman’s Abbey. Explore St Colman’s Abbey whilst enjoying living history.
The evening will conclude in Kinturk Cultural Centre where there will be traditional music and a traditional Loughshore supper.
Saturday 9th August – Killymoon Castle
Come along and enjoy a living history tour of Killymoon Castle, experience what life was like in 1802 when after being destroyed by fire in the previous year, Colonel William Stewart built a new more imposing castle, designed by John Nash, the famous London Architect. The tour will be followed by a light supper in the castles tea rooms.
All tours will depart from the Burnavon at 6pm, the cost is £8.00 per person.
