Spring is just around the corner and there’s a whole programme of smashing evening entertainment on offer at the Burnavon, Cookstown.
March starts off with a wonderful evening of nostalgia on Thursday 3rd, featuring Sandy Kelly as Patsy Cline, that brings you on a trip down memory lane with classics such as ‘Crazy’ and ‘Sweet Dreams’ taking centre stage. Special guest on the show is Gerry Gutherie, one of the most talented and new stars on the Irish Country scene. Tickets are £20.
The music continues on 10th March as the Kings and Queens of Country take to the stage; Mick Flavin, John Hogan, Louise Morrissey and Gloria will be joined by compere ‘Cowboy Larry’ and a live band. Sadly, this show was to feature local country star and well–loved music figure, Gene Stuart, who passed away recently, so it will undoubtedly be a poignant evening without him. Tickets are £20.
The very best of music, song and dance will be on stage as the St.Patrick’s Celebrations Concert takes place on Wednesday 16th, with renowned singer musician Malachi Cush as compere, who hopefully will take some time to entertain you himself as he introduces headliners for the concert, All Folk’d Up, who are joined by the Loup Comhaltas group, class act Coirui, and local dance schools as well as some fantastic solo acts. Tickets are fantastic value at just £10.
With more country music from Lisa McHugh on Friday 18th (tickets £22), and Ritchie Remo on Wednesday 30th (tickets £12.50) as well as an evening of gospel praise with Live Issue and Laura Downey on Saturday 12th (tickets £10/£5 concession), it really is a month of march madness for music fans!
The comedy continues as Brian Morgan, flushed with the success of this year’s Stewartstown Panto, The Wizard of Oz, returns as Director for The Vicar of Derramore, a comedy penned by the man himself and performed by Magherafelt Players on Friday 11th March. Tickets are £10.
Don’t forget that Sunday 6th March is Mother’s Day, and if you are looking for a perfect gift for your mum, you need look no further than the annual antiques fair, this year taking place on Sat 5th March from 10am – 4pm, which offers the opportunity to browse through the many antiques on offer to get that unique gift for a special someone.
March sees the Burnavon throwing a party to celebrate Easter and everyone is invited on Saturday 19th from 11am – 3pm. There will be free fun–filled activities for all the family with entertainment inside and outside giving a real buzz to the Town Centre.
Once you’ve experienced all that’s on offer at the Burnavon, you can pick up your Easter Egg Hunt clue sheet at the Box Office and explore the town centre to come up with your answers and return your completed sheet to the Burnavon. All completed sheets will be entered into a prize draw.
